Financial Crime Systems Analyst

About the role

The Financial Crime Systems Analyst supports the development, optimisation and continuous improvement of Safaricom’s financial crime detection platforms. Reporting to the Lead Transaction Monitoring & Systems, the role ensures AML, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening and related systems deliver high‑quality, risk‑based insights.

Key responsibilities

• Configure and maintain AML, transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, fraud detection and case management platforms.
• Monitor data integrity, analyse alerts and optimise system performance.
• Collaborate with Technology, Data Science and product teams to implement AI, machine‑learning and behavioural monitoring techniques.
• Identify automation opportunities to streamline investigations and reporting.
• Support regulatory reviews, audits, model validations and system enhancement projects.

Required profile

• Reports to the Lead Transaction Monitoring & Systems.

Required skills

• Experience with AML and transaction monitoring systems.
• Knowledge of sanctions screening, fraud detection and case management platforms.
• Familiarity with automation, advanced analytics, AI and machine‑learning concepts.
