Firefighter

About the role

The Firefighter protects lives and property by responding to fires, vehicle accidents, natural disasters, and hazardous material incidents. This role involves rapid decision‑making, physical exertion, and teamwork in high‑stress environments.

Key responsibilities

• Perform search, rescue, and fire‑fighting operations for fires, accidents, floods, bomb incidents, and dangerous substance spills.
• Safely operate emergency response vehicles, hand and power tools, ladders, hoses, pumps, foam generators, and specialized nozzles.
• Connect hoses to hydrants and pump apparatus, and manage water‑charged hose lines of various sizes.
• Conduct salvage and overhaul operations to minimize damage.
• Participate in station drills, emergency‑procedure training, and hazardous‑materials response.
• Respond to hazardous‑materials emergencies in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Minimum one (1) year of fire‑fighting experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree preferred.
• Ability to make quick, sound decisions under stressful and hazardous conditions.
• Physical capability to perform interior structural firefighting (OSHA 1910.156).
• Willingness to work long hours, in adverse weather, and on short notice.

Required skills

• Firefighter II certification (IFSAC, DOD, or National Pro‑Board).
• Hazardous Materials Operations certification.
• Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) certification (where applicable).
• Driver Operator Pumper certification (DoD, ProBoard, or IFSAC).
• Telecommunicator I and II certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
