Freight Forwarding Operations Supervisor - Declaration

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a permanent Freight Forwarding Operations IFF Operations Supervisor for its declaration team in Nairobi. The role supervises declarants, oversees customs entry lodgment and supports the team leader, port operators and the team in clearing goods.

Key responsibilities

• Acknowledge receipt of full sets of documents from IFFOS operators, check the validity and completeness of clearance documents and allocate files to declarants for timely entry submission.
• Liaise with the Team Leader, IFFOS Operators and Operations Supervisor, ask for missing information and ensure accurate, timely declarations in the iCMS system, updates in SPOT and WAY, and timely submission of PGA-CDs in the TFP system.
• Lodge customs entries in iCMS and ensure each declarant meets the daily KPI target of 100 lines.
• Monitor TFP and iCMS for passing entries and permit approvals, respond promptly to rejections and escalate issues to avoid delays.
• Support the Team Leader, Supervisor and Port Operators with inquiries and customs rejections, and guide them on customs documentation, duties, requirements and regulations.
• Handle customs queries with the Supervisor, escalate unresolved issues to managers within 24 hours and intervene physically at relevant offices or ports when needed.
• Share the Job Allocation Report daily and ensure each declarant submits their Daily Activity Report.
• Perform duty and other tax projections accurately and in a timely manner, including bond projection.

Required profile

• Diploma in C & F or a related field.
• ICMS training.
• 5 years of experience in declaration within a busy logistics or freight forwarding industry.
• An East African Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate is an added advantage.
