Full‑Time Faculty & Programme Director – Adult Emergency Medicine

About the role

The Department of Family Medicine seeks a full‑time Faculty Physician to lead the Adult Emergency Medicine programme. The role combines clinical leadership, education of emergency medicine diplomates, and contribution to scholarly activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and ensure safe, high‑quality patient care in the Accident and Emergency Department.
• Oversee recruitment, orientation, probation reviews and disciplinary processes for Senior House Officers.
• Manage performance and educational development of SHOs.
• Deliver first‑contact, urgent and emergency clinical care.
• Ensure all doctors are licensed, facilitate privileging, and maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with the clinical team to integrate patient‑care activities and improve key performance indicators.
• Participate in emergency medicine research and scholarly activities.
• Coordinate educational programmes for residents and emergency medicine diplomates.

Required profile

• Master of Medicine in Emergency Medicine or equivalent.
• MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery).
• Minimum academic rank of Senior Instructor with at least two years post‑training experience and registration as a Specialist by KMPDC.
• Demonstrated healthcare leadership experience in Emergency Medicine departments.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong critical‑thinking, problem‑solving and ability to prioritize work independently.
• Integrity, compassion, respect for diversity and adherence to ethical principles.
