Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist

About the role

The Gender, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist will support UNEP’s cross‑cutting commitments on gender equality, disability inclusion, youth empowerment and poverty eradication throughout the project life‑cycle. The role involves designing and delivering high‑quality training, reviewing project documents for inclusion compliance, and contributing to UN‑level reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver well‑structured training sessions and capacity‑building workshops on gender, disability, youth and poverty eradication.
• Conduct timely reviews and clearances of gender equality, disability inclusion, youth and poverty eradication components in concept notes, project documents and programme submissions.
• Develop and maintain guidance notes, standard operating procedures, tools and training materials to mainstream gender, disability, youth and poverty considerations.
• Collect, analyse and report disaggregated data to demonstrate the impact of UNEP interventions.
• Contribute to the implementation of advocacy activities and cross‑cutting action plans across programmes.
• Revise technical notes under the UNDIS accountability framework through a consultative process.
• Provide inputs for regular and ad‑hoc UNEP and UN reports on gender, diversity and related cross‑cutting issues.
• Extract relevant data from IPMR for QAS analysis and usage.

Required profile

• Proven experience in delivering gender, diversity and inclusion training and capacity‑building activities.
• Ability to conduct thorough reviews of project documents for gender and inclusion compliance.
• Experience in collecting, analysing and reporting disaggregated data within UN or similar frameworks.
• Familiarity with UNDIS accountability processes and IPMR data extraction.
• Strong capability to develop guidance notes, SOPs, tools and training materials.
