General Accountant

About the role

The General Accountant will maintain accurate books, ensure proper journal postings, and support month‑end, audit and budgeting activities for Africa Global Logistics Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Post general accounting journals, classify expenses to correct GL accounts, and review accruals, provisions and pre‑payments monthly.
• Prepare supporting schedules, conduct trial‑balance reviews, and ensure journals are approved before booking.
• Manage VAT, WHT and iTax reconciliations, file tax returns on time, and resolve supplier invoice issues.
• Execute payroll deductions (NSSF, NHIF, AHL, NITA) and maintain clean tax accounts in SAP.
• Perform bank reconciliations, inventory counts, and variance analysis, liaising with treasury as needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance or accounting.
• Professional qualification such as CPA (K), ACCA or CFA.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar accounting role.

Required skills

• Proficiency in SAP for general ledger and expense coding.
• Experience with iTax and VAT reconciliation.
• Strong knowledge of payroll deductions (NSSF, NHIF, AHL, NITA).
