General Accountant – Nairobi

About the role

A fast‑growing East African hospitality company is looking for a meticulous, self‑driven General Accountant to manage day‑to‑day financial operations in Nairobi. You will maintain accurate records, handle accounts payable and receivable, ensure statutory compliance, and prepare timely monthly financial reports.

Key responsibilities

• Post daily journal entries and keep the general ledger up‑to‑date.
• Prepare and file statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, SHIF, NSSF, Affordable Housing Levy) via the KRA iTax portal.
• Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations of bank, supplier and customer statements.
• Process invoices, monitor client aging reports, follow up on overdue debts and schedule supplier payments.
• Prepare monthly payroll, calculating salaries, benefits and deductions accurately.
• Assist in preparing balance sheets, income statements and cash‑flow forecasts for management.
• Organise financial documents to support internal and external audit processes.
• Undertake any other duties as allocated.

Required profile

• Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum CPA Part 2/Intermediate level (CPA‑K) – ACCA finalists highly preferred.
• At least 4 years of hands‑on accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality sector.
• Strong integrity, sharp attention to detail and solid analytical abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
• Intermediate‑to‑advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Practical mastery of KRA iTax and Kenyan tax regulations.

What we offer

• Competitive gross salary of KES 60,000 per month.
