Graduate Assistant – Maritime & Seafaring Studies

About the role

The Technical University of Mombasa is seeking a motivated Graduate Assistant to support its Maritime & Seafaring Studies programme. This position offers a one‑year fixed‑term contract, renewable up to three years, allowing the successful candidate to complete a Master’s degree while gaining valuable academic experience.

Key responsibilities

• Assist senior academic staff with teaching, research, and administrative tasks as assigned by the COD.
• Support the preparation and delivery of course materials and laboratory sessions.
• Participate in data collection, analysis, and reporting for ongoing maritime research projects.
• Undertake additional duties as required by the department.

Required profile

• Upper Second Class Honours Bachelor of Technology in Marine Engineering from an accredited university.
• Kenyan citizenship, aged under 30 years.
• Registered or registerable with the relevant professional or regulatory body.
• Enrolled in, or willing to enroll in, a Master’s degree programme related to maritime studies.
• Demonstrated willingness to pursue a relevant Master’s degree.
