Head of Business Development

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Head of Business Development in Nairobi. The role leads the acquisition of new business, drives profitable revenue growth and expands AGL Kenya's market presence. It reports to the Commercial Manager Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the country's business development strategy and deliver annual new business gross margin and revenue targets.
• Identify, qualify and convert strategic opportunities and build a healthy commercial pipeline.
• Lead, coach and develop Business Development Managers, set objectives and KPIs, run pipeline reviews and ensure disciplined CRM management and accurate forecasts.
• Identify new markets and customers, develop acquisition strategies for priority sectors and lead major tenders and strategic bids.
• Negotiate major opportunities, represent AGL at customer meetings and industry events, and build long-term relationships with strategic prospects.
• Lead major RFIs, RFQs and RFPs, coordinate pricing, operations, legal and finance teams during bid preparation, and conduct bid debriefs.
• Monitor market trends and competitors, share market intelligence, and work with Operations, Pricing and Supply Chain Solutions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, Marketing or a related field.
• Master's degree is an added advantage.
• Professional sales or logistics qualifications are desirable.
