Head of Commercial Development - Yuesen (M/F)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Sales Head of Commercial Development for Yuesen East Africa (YAEA) in Nairobi. The position reports to the Deputy Managing Director and is full time and permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Sales planning and deployment covering new sales, tenders, upselling of YAEA services, development of the AGL and Yusen Logistics network, account management and pricing / quotations, with performance monitoring
• Build a qualified sales pipeline and develop trade lanes and partnerships to exploit market opportunities
• Develop and apply pricing structures for clients and tenders, negotiate contracts and conditions with key customers, and optimise account profitability, retention and upselling
• Drive end-to-end pricing and tender management processes for client and AGL / Yusen Logistics trade lanes
• Analyse and suggest strategies to respond to changing business trends
• Identify the key needs of important clients and communicate them to operations managers so they receive first-class service
• Lead freight forwarding and order processing based on freight rate purchases and service agreements with shipping lines, airlines and partner offices
• Run half-year customer satisfaction surveys, take part in monthly account reviews, analyse client profiles and generate monthly sales operations reports
• Keep management informed on customer needs and market intelligence

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or related training
• 5 years of experience in a logistics or FMCG industry
