About the role

The Head of Diagnostics and Ancillary Services leads a multidisciplinary team to ensure high‑quality, efficient delivery of laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, therapy, and nutrition services at the AGC Tenwek Cardiothoracic Centre. This senior position is responsible for operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across all diagnostic and ancillary functions.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of diagnostics and ancillary services, ensuring smooth, patient‑focused delivery.
• Develop, implement, and maintain robust quality assurance and control procedures.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate a diverse team of clinicians, technologists, and support staff.
• Monitor equipment performance, identify issues, and coordinate maintenance or upgrades.
• Prepare and manage departmental budgets, advocating for resources and cost‑effective solutions.
• Ensure compliance with national health regulations and submit required data to authorities.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, fostering innovation and service optimization.
• Represent the centre on internal and external committees, communicating departmental needs and capabilities.
• Collaborate with other hospital leaders to align diagnostics and ancillary services with overall strategic goals.

Required profile
