Head of Supply Chain

About the role

Evonik is seeking a Head of Supply Chain to lead planning and supplier management for one or two manufacturing/distribution units. The role combines strategic input to the supply planning framework with hands‑on oversight of contracts, cost analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Execute planning activities for assigned manufacturing/distribution units, coordinating with other processes, units and suppliers.
• Provide input to the overall supply planning framework and related systems.
• Monitor supplier performance, identify gaps and drive improvements or contract renegotiations.
• Collect and analyse cost drivers, market dynamics and alternative suppliers to support decision‑making.
• Manage day‑to‑day relationships with contract service providers within an established contract management plan.
• Write specifications and identify requirements for existing and new contracts within a small portfolio.
• Supervise staff operating under established operational systems.
• Review current operations and implement innovation processes to generate ideas and ensure continuous improvement.

Required profile

• University degree (first level).
• Proven ability to handle complex situations and advise others.
• Experience supervising and directing people and resources to achieve results within limited timeframes.
• Strong independent work capability while providing guidance and training to colleagues.
• Ability to analyse data trends for reporting and decision support.
• Experience with costing, budgeting and finance tasks without supervision.
