Health, Safety and Environment Officer

About the role

The Health, Safety and Environment Officer will lead the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of Amotech Africa's HSE Management System, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, ISO 45001 standards and company policies while fostering a proactive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain the Health and Safety Management System, conduct inspections, audits, risk assessments and Job Safety Analyses.
• Monitor corrective actions, maintain HSE records, support emergency preparedness, and investigate incidents.
• Support ISO 45001 implementation, participate in internal audits, manage document control and assist with external certification.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA 2007 and Kenyan HSE regulations, liaise with authorities and keep statutory records.
• Deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety communications and promote employee participation.
• Oversee environmental compliance, waste management, hazardous material handling and sustainability initiatives.
• Manage contractor and visitor HSE compliance, conduct evaluations and verify risk assessments.
• Prepare weekly and monthly HSE reports, analyse trends and present performance updates to management.

Required profile

• Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) and ISO 45001 Internal Auditor training.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in HSE management, preferably in the electrical industry.
• Knowledge of OSHA 2007 regulations and experience with ISO 45001 systems.
• Strong report writing, documentation, communication and training abilities.
