Health & Safety Coordinator

About the role

The Health & Safety Coordinator will support SGS’s commitment to the highest ethical standards, driving quality, safety and environmental performance across the Kenya operations.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the local Health & Safety Management System and ensure annual H&S KPIs are met or exceeded.
• Monitor the H&SMS and QHSE systems, identify improvement opportunities and execute corrective and preventive actions.
• Maintain records for health, safety, environmental, security and sustainability as required by corporate policies.
• Develop and deliver training on quality, safety and environmental topics to all staff levels.
• Coordinate safety and environmental inspections, ensure legal compliance and manage occupational hygiene surveys and risk assessments.
• Support incident investigations, compile the monthly Global Safety Report and travel onsite to assist SGS staff and managers.

Required profile

• University degree from a recognized institution.
• NEBOSH International General Certificate.
• At least 3 years of experience in quality and safety management systems.
• People‑management experience is an advantage.
• Experience in planning and scheduling inspections.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, ISO 17020, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
• Ability to conduct internal audits and manage corrective actions.
• Experience with risk assessment, occupational hygiene surveys and incident reporting.
• Proficiency in developing and delivering training on safety and environmental matters.
