Hospital Pharmacist – Leadership Role

About the role

The Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to lead its pharmacy department. Reporting to the Chief Pharmacist, you will ensure safe, ethical, and efficient medication management across the hospital and collaborate with clinicians to optimise patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee dispensing procedures and monitor pharmacy technologists.
• Implement proactive interventions throughout the medication management and use system to reduce errors.
• Manage pharmacy service flow, turn‑around times, and stock variation.
• Participate in drug use reviews, ward rounds, and antimicrobial stewardship activities.
• Prepare and dispense high‑alert medications safely and accurately.
• Prepare and submit reports on medication errors, interventions, stock variance, and client satisfaction.
• Track, report, and act on key performance indicators for the pharmacy.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Pharmacy from a recognised university.
• Registration Certificate and practice licence from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a busy hospital pharmacy.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
• Knowledge and experience in chemotherapy preparation.
• Competence in IV admixture techniques.
