Human Resource Officer – HR Management Role

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing agribusiness focused on commercial beekeeping, honey and herbs production, is looking for a Human Resource Officer to set up and run the HR function across its operations. The role will ensure recruitment, employee relations, policy implementation and compliance are handled professionally to support a productive and inclusive workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, selection, onboarding, induction and deployment of employees.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, contracts and personnel files.
• Implement HR policies, procedures and employment practices.
• Manage employee relations, grievances, workplace concerns and disciplinary processes fairly and professionally.
• Promote equality, teamwork, diversity and inclusion across all operational locations.
• Monitor workplace relationships and advise management on emerging employee‑relations risks.
• Coordinate probation reviews, performance planning and employee appraisals.
• Support payroll preparation by verifying attendance, leave, overtime, allowances and employee changes.
• Administer annual leave, sick leave, compassionate leave and other authorised absences.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment laws, occupational safety requirements and internal policies.
• Support workforce planning and the development of job descriptions and staffing structures.
• Identify employee training and development needs and coordinate relevant programmes.
• Assist supervisors in applying company policies and managing employees consistently.
• Prepare regular HR reports covering staffing, attendance, turnover, grievances and recruitment.

Required profile

• Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Relevant work experience in HR (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and occupational safety requirements.
