Human Resources Officer

About the role

The Human Resources Officer will deliver end-to-end HR support across the full employee life-cycle in a multi-site environment. Based in Mombasa, the role partners with line managers and staff to provide efficient, people-centred services and requires occasional travel to implementation sites.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate recruitment, background checks and onboarding, ensuring new hires complete mandatory orientation within 30 days.
• Maintain accurate employee records in the HRIS, generate monthly dashboards and ad-hoc reports for donors and management.
• Prepare and issue HR documentation such as contracts, confirmation letters and renewals, and manage probation monitoring.
• Oversee immigration processes for international staff, and support the International Scholarship Programme from advertising to final reporting.
• Assist with payroll inputs, benefits administration, and monthly payroll processing.
• Support performance-review cycles, track objectives, and produce annual performance reports.
• Facilitate staff training, communication, employee-engagement initiatives and respond to HRIS queries.
• Provide documentation for internal and external HR audits and ensure timely resolution of audit queries.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience delivering HR services across recruitment, onboarding, HRIS, payroll and benefits.
• Familiarity with multi-site operations and ability to travel as needed.
• Strong knowledge of HR policies, performance-management processes and immigration procedures.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to work closely with line managers and cross-functional teams.
