HVAC Journeyman I (Tier 2)

About the role

Fluor is hiring an HVAC Journeyman I (Tier 2) to install, service and repair environmental control systems in residences. The role uses knowledge of refrigeration theory, pipefitting and structural layout, and requires minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Install, service and repair environmental control systems in residences, mounting compressor and condenser units on platform or floor according to blueprints or engineering specifications.
• Fabricate, assemble and install ductwork and chassis parts, cut and bend tubing, cut and thread pipe, and join tubing or pipe to refrigerating units with sleeves, couplings or unions and solder joints.
• Install expansion and discharge valves, connect motors, compressors, temperature and humidity controls and ventilation fans to control panels, and install air and water filters.
• Test systems by injecting refrigerant, observing pressure and vacuum gauges, checking for gas leaks and wrapping pipes in insulation.
• Replace defective breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses and wiring, and may install, repair and service air conditioners in line with codes, standards and manufacturer instructions.
• Work in accordance with the listed Army regulations and manuals, or manufacturer instructions.

Required profile

• Journeyman license, certificate or equivalent is required; a high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• Minimum of two years of related experience.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English at an intermediate level.
• Technical skills, job knowledge and physical ability to perform the job functions.
• Authorization to work in the country where the position is located.

Required skills

• EPA certification or an approved equivalent to work with refrigerant.
• Refrigeration theory, pipefitting and welding equipment use.
• Electrician's hand tools and test equipment.
