HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic – Foreman

About the role

We are looking for an experienced HVAC & Refrigeration Mechanic to lead a crew in installing, maintaining and repairing air‑conditioning and refrigeration systems for a US Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role combines hands‑on technical work with supervisory responsibilities in a remote, challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead HVAC crews in the installation, modification, overhaul and repair of air‑conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Coordinate work schedules, ensure proper staffing and track progress against project plans.
• Implement and monitor preventive‑maintenance programs for all HVAC assets.
• Fabricate, assemble and install ductwork, chassis parts and related components using metal‑working tools and welding equipment.
• Connect motors, compressors, temperature and humidity controls, and ventilation fans to control panels and power sources.
• Install, service and repair up to 20‑ton air‑conditioning units.
• Train personnel on maintenance procedures and ensure compliance with blueprints, manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
• Report on trends, issues and recommend improvements.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of relevant HVAC/refrigeration experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Trade certification in heating and air‑conditioning (or proof of competency).
• EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (type 1, 2 and/or 3) as required.
• Ability to read schematics, safety rules and maintenance manuals.
• Willingness to work in remote, potentially uncomfortable conditions and travel domestically or internationally on short notice.
