ICT Officer / Network Administration

About the role

The Network Administrator manages the bank's corporate network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers and switches, and is responsible for configuring, maintaining, supporting and optimizing network hardware, software and communication links. The role also covers troubleshooting, traffic analysis and capacity planning. It is a full-time position in Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Manage corporate network infrastructure and support new and existing network hardware, software and links
• Develop, test and review a disaster recovery framework for the bank's networks, keeping documentation
• Assess near- and long-term network capacity needs with the team lead and prepare network specifications, diagrams and maps
• Perform general network administration, including user management, access control and security
• Deploy and run network performance tests and reporting tools, and report on IP traffic
• Support upgrades of network equipment and manage active infrastructure, including servers, workstations and the WAN
• Diagnose network problems and outages, and manage security solutions such as firewalls, VPNs and IDS/IPS
• Handle incoming work orders on equipment and connectivity issues, and liaise with contracted service providers on branch connectivity
• Backup and recover network configurations, monitor performance and recommend improvements
• Provide leadership in maintaining, troubleshooting and upgrading the core network infrastructure

Required profile

• At least 3 years of relevant experience at ICT Officer II level or equivalent
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business IT, Software Engineering, ICT Project Management, Computer Engineering or equivalent
• Certification such as CCNA, CCNP, CISA or CISSP, or equivalent
• Knowledge of operating systems, desktop products and application systems
• Strong troubleshooting skills
• Has fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
