Information Technology Specialist – Network Survey (Half‑Day)

About the role

We are looking for an Information Technology Specialist to conduct a half‑day on‑site network infrastructure survey in Nairobi, Kenya. The engineer will perform site access verification, document the network demarcation point, assess cable routes, rack space and power readiness, and inventory WAN/LAN devices. Findings will be compiled into a detailed report to support future deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Register site entry, follow local access and security procedures.
• Capture GPS coordinates, photograph the main demarcation point and communications/server room.
• Measure and document cable routes between the demarcation point and the communications room, noting constraints.
• Record rack details (ID, height, occupied and available U, device types) and verify rack stability.
• Assess floor space, power availability, UPS, cooling and grounding facilities.
• Inventory all WAN and LAN devices, ports, interfaces and patch panels, with photographic evidence.
• Identify change‑freeze periods, compliance requirements and operational risks.
• Prepare a final survey report with observations, risks, recommendations and obtain customer sign‑off.

Required profile

• Engineer with hands‑on experience in network infrastructure surveys and data‑center assessments.
• Ability to work independently on‑site and produce clear documentation.
• Familiarity with local site access and security protocols.
