Insurance A/R Follow-up Specialist

About the role

Join a US‑based outpatient healthcare provider as the dedicated Insurance Follow‑up / Accounts Receivable (A/R) Caller. You will own the outbound payer‑calling function, ensuring revenue continues to flow by contacting insurance carriers, resolving denials, and closing aging accounts.

Key responsibilities

• Make high‑volume outbound calls to US insurance carriers regarding outstanding, unpaid, and underpaid claims.
• Check claim status, identify denial reason codes, and request reprocessing or reconsideration.
• Document every interaction in the billing system, including payer responses, reference numbers, and promised payment dates.
• Escalate complex or unresolved accounts to the billing team with full call‑history documentation.
• Track and prioritize aging buckets by dollar amount, payer deadline, and days outstanding.
• Collaborate daily with the billing manager and team, providing updates on call volume, outcomes, and payer issues.

Required profile

• Prior hands‑on experience making insurance follow‑up calls in a US medical billing or healthcare revenue cycle setting.
• Persistent, organized, and comfortable navigating payer phone systems and hold queues.
• Strong understanding of how US insurance claims are adjudicated.
