Interim HRBP (3-Month Contract)

About the role

A well-established Kenyan investment banking and financial services institution, operating in a highly regulated environment, is reviewing its Human Resources function through a 3-month interim contract. The Interim HRBP leads a comprehensive audit of people practices, governance structures, documentation and performance frameworks so that they align with business objectives and regulatory expectations. The role reports to the Director, Risk & Compliance and works closely with executive management and department heads.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct an HR governance audit covering employment legislation, internal governance and best practice, and develop an implementation roadmap
• Review employment contracts, personnel files and statutory documentation, and set document control standards
• Review the performance management framework, define KPIs and KRAs, and build structured appraisal processes
• Ensure employees understand their regulatory obligations and support training and awareness initiatives
• Review job descriptions and organisational structure, and clarify reporting lines and responsibilities
• Build HR compliance checklists, dashboards and reporting mechanisms, and report findings to executive management

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Law, Industrial Psychology or a related discipline
• Professional HR qualification such as CHRP(K), IHRM, CIPD, SHRM or equivalent
• Minimum of seven years of progressive HR experience, including HR governance, compliance, performance management and policy development
• Experience of HR audits, HR system reviews or HR governance implementation in regulated industries
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and HR compliance
