Junior Actuarial Analyst

About the role

Old Mutual is seeking a Junior Actuarial Analyst for its Life Business in Nairobi. The role supports the actuarial function with valuations, IFRS 17 reporting, solvency analysis and financial modelling to aid business decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with internal actuarial liability valuations, IFRS 17 valuations, profitability and embedded value analysis using Prophet and Excel.
• Support solvency calculations, stress testing, and capital management for the life entity.
• Contribute to financial modelling of business scenarios, reinsurance analysis and optimisation.
• Maintain and support actuarial systems such as Prophet, Thought Express and OIPA.
• Prepare reports, board papers and regulatory documentation for senior management and committees.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.
• 2‑5 years of relevant technical experience and progress in actuarial examinations.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and data handling abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Prophet actuarial software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
• Data programming and manipulation capabilities.
