Junior Actuarial Analyst – Life Business

About the role

Join Old Mutual's Life actuarial team in Nairobi to support accurate valuations, IFRS 17 reporting and solvency analysis. You will provide technical insight that informs management decisions and regulatory compliance for the Life business.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with internal actuarial liability valuations, IFRS 17 calculations and embedded value analysis using Prophet and Excel.
• Conduct profitability, experience and other actuarial investigations to guide business decisions.
• Support solvency and capital management through risk‑based capital calculations and stress testing.
• Develop financial models for business scenarios and assist with reinsurance analysis and optimisation.
• Prepare board papers, regulatory reports and present results to business units.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science.
• 2‑5 years of relevant technical actuarial experience.
• Progress in actuarial examinations demonstrating actuarial knowledge.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Prophet actuarial software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with data handling and programming for actuarial analysis.
