Junior Software Developer

About the role

Riana Group is hiring a Junior Software Developer for a full-time position in Nairobi. The developer supports application development across the full SDLC, working with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to turn requirements into technical specifications, write clean and secure code, integrate APIs and ensure application reliability through testing, debugging and code reviews.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain web applications using Laravel, React, Next.js and C#
• Design and optimize databases using MySQL and MongoDB
• Collaborate with project managers, designers and testers to define, design and ship new features
• Write clean, scalable and efficient code, debug and troubleshoot defects
• Take part in code reviews and follow best practices for development and security
• Gather and analyze software requirements with stakeholders and design software architecture and technical specifications
• Test and debug software thoroughly and keep existing applications supported and maintained
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and contribute to improving development processes

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or a related field
• Two years of software development experience
• Strong understanding of the software development life cycle
• Portfolio of personal projects or previous work experience highly desirable

Required skills

• PHP Laravel, C#, React and Next.js
• MySQL and MongoDB database design and management
• API development and integration
• Git and web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks) are a plus
• SQL queries, software testing and debugging knowledge
