Junior Technical Advisor – Sustainable Livestock Systems

About the role

The Junior Technical Advisor will support the LiveSys programme, a GIZ‑funded initiative aimed at transforming livestock systems in Kenya into climate‑resilient, sustainable models. Working under the Technical Advisor, the role involves planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of project activities, as well as stakeholder engagement and knowledge management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the planning, execution, monitoring and reporting of LiveSys activities, ensuring alignment with GIZ standards.
• Organise and support workshops, trainings, webinars and stakeholder consultations, documenting outcomes and preparing donor and progress reports.
• Provide logistical and administrative support, including procurement, travel arrangements, budget preparation and expenditure tracking.
• Facilitate collaboration with government bodies, research institutes, development partners and private‑sector stakeholders, following up on actions and deliverables.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, Environmental Science, Development Studies, Climate Change, Natural Resource Management, Agricultural Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in livestock development, agriculture, climate change, natural resource management or rural development.
• Strong written and spoken English and Swahili, with excellent report‑writing and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and within multicultural, multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams).
