Kindergarten Co-Teacher

About the role

The Kindergarten Co-Teacher supports the delivery of age-appropriate learning activities for young learners, assists the class teacher in classroom management and helps implement the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The role also promotes the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of children in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. The position is full time in Kiambu.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing CBC-based learning activities.
• Support the teaching of literacy, numeracy, creative activities and essential life skills.
• Prepare teaching aids and learning materials suitable for young children.
• Help supervise learners during classroom activities, outdoor play, meals and other school routines.
• Monitor learners' progress and support the preparation of assessment records.
• Promote positive behaviour, discipline and good social interaction among learners.
• Ensure the safety, hygiene and well-being of all children under their care.
• Maintain effective communication and collaboration with the lead teacher, parents and other staff.
• Take part in planning and coordinating extracurricular activities and uphold the school's policies and child safeguarding standards.

Required profile

• Certificate or Diploma in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Conversant with the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
• Valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
• Previous experience working with kindergarten learners is an added advantage.
• Good conduct, professionalism and a genuine passion for working with young children.
