About the role
The Laboratory Technician will support plant tissue culture work focused on yam and Bambara groundnut, preparing media, handling explants and maintaining in‑vitro cultures for transformation and regeneration projects.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare plant tissue culture media required for yam and Bambara groundnut transformation and regeneration experiments.
- Perform seed sterilization, explant preparation and culture initiation following established protocols.
- Maintain, multiply and regularly sub‑culture in‑vitro yam and Bambara groundnut cultures.
- Support regeneration, transformation, potting and greenhouse maintenance of regenerated plants.
Required profile
- Diploma in Agriculture.
- Minimum 2 years relevant work experience.
- Basic knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) or other software.
- Understanding of health and safety in the workplace and good working practices.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
Required skills

- Experience with Bambara groundnut tissue culture.
