Lead Internal Auditor – Nakuru

About the role

The Lead Internal Auditor will head audit engagements for Kaziweza Limited’s Nakuru operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. You will coordinate with multiple departments, evaluate controls, and drive improvements to boost operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Develop audit plans, define scope, objectives and timelines.
• Conduct risk assessments and gather background information.
• Lead and supervise audit teams during fieldwork.
• Test internal controls, processes and transactions in detail.
• Document findings, non‑compliance issues and potential risks.
• Prepare comprehensive audit reports with recommendations.
• Present audit results to senior management and stakeholders.
• Guide and train junior auditors.
• Track implementation of recommendations and perform follow‑up audits.
• Monitor ongoing risks and changes in the control environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounts, Finance or Economics.
• Professional qualification such as CPA‑K, ACCA or CIA.
• Membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) or Information Systems Audit (ISA) is a plus.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in internal audit.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience auditing through computerized systems.
• Knowledge of ERP systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
