Lecturer Grade 12 Civil Engineering (Roads, Transportation and Traffic Engineering; Highway and Pavement Design)

About the role

Kirinyaga University is recruiting a Grade 12 Lecturer in Civil Engineering, covering Roads, Transportation and Traffic Engineering, Highway and Pavement Design. The position is based in Nairobi (Westlands) and involves teaching, student supervision, research and departmental work.

Key responsibilities

• Teach and evaluate undergraduate and postgraduate students, and develop teaching and learning materials
• Set, moderate, administer, process and mark examinations
• Advise and mentor students, and supervise their research activities
• Develop research proposals for funding and take part in research-related meetings and conferences
• Take part in curriculum planning, development, implementation and evaluation
• Organize and supervise educational activities and take part in departmental meetings and strategic planning
• Participate in administrative, academic and consultancy activities, and attend seminars and workshops

Required profile

• An earned PhD or equivalent degree in the relevant field from an accredited university, registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya
• OR a Master's degree in the relevant field (in special cases) with at least three years of university-level teaching or research/industry experience
• A minimum of 24 publication points, at least 10 from refereed journal papers
• Registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya
