Lecturer (Sports Science)

About the role

Laikipia University is recruiting a full-time Lecturer in Sports Science based in Nairobi (Westlands). The role combines teaching undergraduates and postgraduates with research supervision, exam moderation and service to the community and profession.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in curriculum development and review, and develop learning and teaching materials
• Deliver lectures and prepare course outlines for undergraduates and postgraduates
• Evaluate coursework and assignments, maintain attendance and assessment records, and advise students on academic improvement
• Conduct internal moderation of exams and assess student performance
• Supervise postgraduate and undergraduate research, and supervise students on industrial attachment, teaching practice and internships
• Undertake research, publish peer-reviewed articles, books and book chapters, and take part in academic editorial and review work
• Participate in conferences, symposia and workshops, and plan field trips to strengthen industry-university linkages
• Attend school and departmental meetings, serve as patron to academic clubs and take part in university committees

Required profile

• A PhD or equivalent doctorate from an accredited university in the relevant field, plus a Master's and Bachelor's degree in a related area; alternatively a Master's degree in special cases, with registration for a PhD
• At least 24 publication points, of which at least 16 must be from refereed journal papers
• Registration or eligibility for registration with a professional body where applicable
• Minimum of three years of service as a Tutorial Fellow or in a comparable position
