About the role
We are recruiting a Litigation Associate on behalf of a fast‑growing law firm in Nairobi. The role involves managing dispute resolution matters from initial client intake through trial, appeal and settlement. The successful candidate will work closely with senior partners to deliver effective legal solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Manage litigation files from client consultation through trial, judgment and appeal.
- Assess the viability of claims and defenses through legal research, fact analysis and client interviews.
- Develop and implement tailored litigation strategies aligned with client objectives.
- Draft, review and file pleadings, motions, affidavits, witness statements and other court documents.
- Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations and other dispute‑resolution forums.
- Prepare and examine witnesses, manage evidence presentation and conduct cross‑examinations.
- Oversee discovery and due‑diligence processes, including document review and evidence gathering.
- Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements.
- Provide legal opinions, risk assessments and practical advice to clients.
- Monitor litigation timelines, court schedules and filing deadlines to ensure compliance.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and collaborate with colleagues on complex cases.
Required profile
- LL.B degree with Upper Second‑Class Honours from a recognised university.
- Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising certificate.
- Minimum three (3) years post‑admission experience in active litigation, preferably civil and commercial matters.
- Strong courtroom presence and the ability to manage complex legal disputes.
- Excellent analytical, research and client‑advisory skills.
