Live-In Chef for Private Residence in Lavington

About the role

We are seeking a professional, trustworthy Live‑In Chef to manage daily meal preparation and kitchen operations for a private residence in Lavington, Nairobi. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality meals while upholding strict standards of hygiene, discretion and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and prepare daily meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner) according to family preferences, nutritional needs and dietary restrictions.
• Develop rotating weekly or monthly menus and create special‑occasion or dinner‑party menus.
• Source quality ingredients, support household grocery shopping and manage kitchen inventory, pantry and refrigerator stocks.
• Work within agreed food budgets, minimise waste and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
• Ensure proper food handling, storage and kitchen safety; maintain appliances, utensils and work areas.
• Provide light kitchen‑related housekeeping, pantry organization and occasional table‑service support.

Required profile

• High level of discretion and trustworthiness.
• Strong communication skills and professionalism.
• Adaptability, attention to detail and respect for household privacy.
• Good personal hygiene and ability to work independently.
• At least 3 years’ experience as a chef in a private home, executive residence or similar environment.
• Valid Food Handler’s Certificate and medical/fitness report.

Required skills

• Diploma, certificate or degree in Culinary Arts, Food Production, Hospitality Management or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling.

What we offer
