Locum Medical Officer, Outreach Pool & Locum

About the role

The Aga Khan Hospitals in Westlands, Nairobi are seeking a Locum Medical Officer to join their outreach pool. This full‑time position involves providing primary and emergency medical care to both acute and chronic patients in a clinic setting.

Key responsibilities

• Review and examine patients, taking histories, performing physical exams, and ordering appropriate laboratory and radiology investigations.
• Monitor the progress of acutely and chronically ill patients and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Conduct emergency surgical and medical procedures when required.
• Provide evidence‑based screening, wellness examinations, risk assessments and preventive education.
• Coordinate referrals with the main hospital and ensure smooth patient transitions.
• Collaborate with clinical and non‑clinical teams to deliver patient‑centred, coordinated care.
• Participate in quality initiatives alongside clinic management and the Quality and Patient Safety team.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent.
• Successful completion of at least two years of post‑graduate internship.
• Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
• Valid Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate.
