Locum Nursing Officer – Hospital (Kisumu)

About the role

The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu is seeking qualified Nursing Officers on a locum basis to provide direct patient care within its main hospital. This role involves delivering high‑quality nursing services to a diverse patient population in a fast‑growing, ISO‑certified facility.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care, assessing physical, emotional and psychological needs of patients.
• Monitor vital signs and overall health condition regularly.
• Administer prescribed medications, injections and IV fluids accurately.
• Prioritise care for critically ill patients based on assessment data.
• Maintain infection‑control standards and perform safety checks.
• Document assessments, investigations, care provided and multidisciplinary communications promptly and accurately.
• Participate in nursing education, quality‑improvement projects, audits and skill checks.
• Collect data for departmental quality indicators and conduct audits on infection‑prevention measures.
• Uphold statutory regulations of the Nursing Council of Kenya and protect confidential information.

Required profile

• Diploma in KRN, KRM, KRCHN or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) from a recognised institution.
• Valid nursing practice licence in Kenya.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
• Strong interpersonal, organisational, communication and customer‑care abilities.
