Logistics Manager

About the role

The Logistics Manager will lead the planning and execution of logistics and trade operations for the Canadian market. Reporting to the Trading Manager, this role ensures efficient, cost‑effective movement of goods while maintaining strong relationships with carriers, regulators and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop annual, half‑yearly, quarterly and monthly logistics plans to optimise time and cost.
• Communicate shipment requirements to rail, road and ocean freight providers and negotiate rates.
• Evaluate transportation options and recommend the most cost‑effective solutions.
• Maintain relationships with government agencies, freight forwarders, shipping lines and railways.
• Provide market forecasts and contract rate recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Ensure shipping planners are updated with requirements up to four weeks in advance.
• Train logistics coordinators on contract pricing and leverage contract tolerances.
• Execute trades, monitor shipment status and adjust routes based on quality or timeline needs.
• Align documentation and trading teams, support invoicing and payment processes, and submit internal reports on schedule.
• Review performance against cost and timeliness targets and propose innovative improvements.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead a logistics team and coordinate with multiple internal functions.
• Strong negotiation skills with carriers and service providers.
• Experience developing and managing logistics plans and schedules.
• Capability to train and develop logistics staff on contract and pricing matters.
• Analytical mindset to monitor inventory, trans‑loading and rail‑car movements.
