Management Accountant

About the role

CHAJI is seeking a Management Accountant to lead day‑to‑day finance operations as the company scales its clean‑energy solutions for electric vehicles across East Africa. Reporting directly to the CEO and CTO, you will play a hands‑on role in consolidating, strengthening, and streamlining financial systems and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end bookkeeping, payments, and treasury using Zoho Books and local payment platforms.
• Process monthly payroll and ensure full statutory compliance (PAYE, NSSF, SHIF, Housing Levy, iTax).
• Prepare budgets, cash‑flow forecasts, and monthly management accounts.
• Handle donor and grant reporting, as well as project accounting across multiple initiatives.
• Maintain audit readiness and continuously improve internal controls.
• Support the consolidation and optimisation of finance systems as the business grows.

Required profile

• BCom, Accounting or Finance degree with CPA or ACCA qualification (finalist or qualified).
• Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience managing core finance functions.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax law and statutory requirements.
• Hands‑on experience with accounting software such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Xero or Sage.
• Experience with donor‑funded grants is a plus.
