Manager - Foreign Exchange Sales

About the role

Kingdom Bank is looking for a Manager in Nairobi to drive its foreign exchange (FX) business. The role develops and implements the bank's FX sales strategy in line with the Treasury strategy and the bank's business plan, delivers approved income and volume targets, and grows FX share across retail, MSME, commercial, corporate, institutional, diaspora and high-net-worth customers.

Key responsibilities

• Grow FX business with existing customers and acquire new ones such as importers, exporters, NGOs, schools, hospitals, manufacturers, travel and hospitality businesses, and diaspora customers; re-activate dormant customers.
• Work with the Head of Treasury to set branch, segment and individual targets, monitor performance against budget, and balance pricing with approved margins.
• Lead generation and conversion: manage a bank-wide lead process, maintain an FX sales database and pipeline, track leads through to transaction completion, and monitor conversion rates by branch and segment.
• Develop targeted FX campaigns with Marketing, Branch Banking, Business Banking, Corporate Banking, Institutional Banking, Trade Finance and Diaspora Banking.
• Manage customer relationships: act as a key contact, visit customers regularly, prepare customer profiles, recommend FX and treasury solutions, resolve complaints and build retention and win-back plans.
• Drive FX sales through all branches, segment them by FX potential, run branch visits, set up a referral process, identify FX champions and coach branch teams.
• Train staff on FX products, sales techniques and lead follow-up, and evaluate training effectiveness.
• Work with Treasury to obtain competitive quotations, route transactions correctly, coordinate settlements and follow up on outstanding or failed transactions.
• Monitor FX market developments and competitor pricing, provide market intelligence to Treasury and branches, and recommend product and pricing improvements.
• Ensure FX transactions comply with Central Bank of Kenya requirements and applicable laws.
