Managing Director - Finance

About the role

The Managing Director – Finance will report directly to the CEO and serve as a key member of Aceli Africa’s senior leadership team. This senior position oversees the entire finance function, ensuring alignment with the organization’s mission to mobilise private sector lending for agricultural SMEs across East Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive financial strategies, leading the annual budgeting process.
• Oversee enterprise risk management, including foreign‑exchange mitigation, audit leadership and compliance with U.S. GAAP, IFRS and local regulations.
• Lead financial forecasting and modelling, providing actionable insights to the CEO and Board and establishing KPIs.
• Manage cash‑flow, treasury operations and engage with external partners to support capital‑raising initiatives.
• Ensure donor compliance through timely financial reporting, audit management and tracking of restricted funds.

Required profile

• Proven senior finance leadership experience in a multi‑country, donor‑funded environment.
• Strong understanding of nonprofit accounting standards and donor requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to influence strategic decisions and drive financial performance.
