Market Intelligence Expert

About the role

We are looking for a Market Intelligence Expert to become the analytical engine behind our strategic decisions in the fast‑growing East African residential solar market. You will turn raw data into actionable intelligence that guides product, pricing, channel and market‑entry strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Build and maintain a competitive intelligence database covering key players, product portfolios, pricing, distribution models, PAYG offerings and partnership activities in Kenya and the wider region.
• Conduct regular competitor profiling, benchmarking, and track hiring, funding and organizational changes as early signals of strategic shifts.
• Design and execute quantitative and qualitative market research, including household surveys, focus groups, distributor interviews and retail audits across urban, peri‑urban and rural areas.
• Segment the addressable market by income, energy access, geography and usage patterns; keep a consumer insight repository with updated buyer personas and journey maps.
• Develop and continuously refine market sizing models (TAM, SAM) and produce quarterly forecasts with scenario analysis to support business planning.
• Monitor Kenya’s renewable‑energy policy landscape, regulatory updates and macro‑economic factors that affect solar adoption.

Required profile

• Proven experience in market intelligence, competitive analysis or energy‑sector research, preferably within the solar or renewable‑energy space.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize large data sets into clear, actionable recommendations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel or equivalent spreadsheet modelling.
• Statistical analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Stata, R) for quantitative research.
• Survey design and field research techniques.
• Familiarity with market‑sizing and forecasting methodologies.
