Market Research Officer

About the role
The Market Research Officer will lead and manage research projects that generate actionable insights for institutional cooking solutions and biomass products. You will produce regular deliverables, interpret data, and use analysis software to support product development, pricing and go‑to‑market strategies.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct primary and secondary research to size and segment demand for institutional cooking solutions across schools, hospitals, prisons and similar large‑scale kitchens.
- Map the competitive landscape of stove technologies, fuels and pricing, and track market share and emerging trends.
- Assess customer needs, cooking practices, fuel consumption and willingness to pay to inform product and commercial strategy.
- Analyze policy, regulatory and funding developments affecting institutional and biomass cooking demand.
- Translate research findings into clear, evidence‑based recommendations for product development, pricing and market entry.
- Build detailed profiles of target institutions, gathering data through site visits, interviews and observations.
- Segment institutions by size, fuel type, geography and purchasing model to prioritize opportunities.
- Define target solution specifications (capacity, fuel type, efficiency, durability, safety, price) and feed them into product and commercial planning.
- Prepare and present reports, dashboards and briefs for management, investors, partners and donors.
- Identify risks in research activities and develop mitigation plans to keep studies on track.
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Social Sciences, Business, Environmental or Energy Studies (post‑graduate qualification is a plus).
- 2–4 years of experience in market research, consumer insights or monitoring and evaluation, preferably in clean cooking, renewable energy or development sectors.
- Proven ability to design and execute both quantitative and qualitative research studies.
