Mathematics Teacher – Educational Research Study

About the role

Tatu City’s AI Learning Lab is looking for a qualified Mathematics Teacher to support a structured educational research study with Grade 7 and Grade 8 learners. The study compares teacher‑assisted learning with AI‑assisted learning using Microsoft Copilot while learners practice mathematics on Khan Academy.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate two 40‑minute mathematics sessions per week for 12 weeks, following the Common Help Ladder framework and limiting support interactions to 2‑3 minutes per learner.
• Deliver the approved Grade 7/8 Khan Academy curriculum (proportional relationships, equations, linear relationships, geometry, measurement) while maintaining strict timing, pacing, and research protocols.
• Document each session using participant research IDs only, protect learner confidentiality, and report any protocol deviations promptly.
• Comply with child safeguarding, ethical research, and data‑protection policies, and collaborate with project leadership to ensure a safe learning environment.

Required profile

• Diploma, bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Education.
• Specialisation in Mathematics or a related field (preferred).
• Current Teacher Service Commission registration (advantage).
• Proven experience teaching Mathematics to Grade 7 and/or Grade 8 learners.
• Strong understanding of the Kenyan Competency‑Based Curriculum for Junior Secondary Mathematics.
• Experience supporting learners with diverse needs and basic digital literacy.

Required skills

• Digital literacy and proficiency with tablets, laptops, and web‑based applications.
• Ability to navigate learning management systems and platforms such as Khan Academy.
