Mathematics Teacher for AI Learning Lab Research Study

About the role

The AI Learning Lab at Tatu City is conducting a structured educational research study with Grade 7 and 8 learners. We are looking for a dependable Mathematics Teacher to facilitate two weekly learning sessions over a 12‑week period, supporting the comparison of teacher‑assisted versus AI‑assisted learning.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate two 40‑minute mathematics sessions per week for a cohort of 20‑25 learners, following the approved Grade 7/8 Khan Academy pathway.
• Provide brief, targeted coaching using the Common Help Ladder framework, limiting support to 2‑3 minutes per learner.
• Maintain strict adherence to research protocols, documentation, and confidentiality requirements.
• Ensure a positive, inclusive learning environment and report any protocol deviations or safeguarding concerns promptly.

Required profile

• Diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent qualification in Education; specialization in Mathematics or Science preferred.
• Proven experience teaching Mathematics to Grade 7 and/or Grade 8, with knowledge of the Kenyan Competency‑Based Curriculum.
• Current Teacher Service Commission (TSC) registration is an advantage.
• Experience with diverse learner needs and participation in pilot projects or research studies is desirable.

Required skills

• Basic digital literacy and proficiency with tablets, laptops, and web‑based applications.
• Ability to navigate learning management systems and online platforms such as Khan Academy.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot (for understanding AI‑assisted learning context).
