MEAL Intern – Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Support

About the role
The MEAL Intern will join the Nandi Carbon project team to support the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) function. Working under the guidance of the MEAL Assistant and in close collaboration with the MEAL Coordinator, the intern will gain hands‑on experience in data management, community feedback, and quality assurance.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the MEAL Assistant in collecting, organizing, and verifying project data (QA/QC) from tree nurseries, seedling planting, and survival monitoring.
- Enter and update data in the PRIME database and maintain the CommCare MRV system.
- Produce regular data summaries, trend analyses, and support reporting for the project team.
- Facilitate community feedback sessions, beneficiary focus group discussions, and semi‑structured interviews.
- Document human‑interest stories and case studies for learning and best‑practice sharing.
- Conduct data‑quality audits, spot checks, and on‑the‑job trainings for health facilities and community units.
- Support beneficiary accountability processes and follow‑up on feedback according to the Accountability Framework.
- Assist in testing and adopting new technologies to improve MEAL efficiency.
- Help plan and organise surveys, operational research, and supervise data collection activities.
Required profile
- Motivated individual eager to learn and develop skills in monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning.
- Ability to work collaboratively with project staff and community members.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
Required skills
- Experience with CommCare data collection platform.
- Familiarity with the PRIME database system.
- Data collection, entry and basic analysis skills.
- Knowledge of QA/QC procedures for field data.
