MEAL Intern – Monitoring & Evaluation Support

About the role

The MEAL Intern will join the Nandi Carbon project team to support Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) activities. Working under the guidance of the MEAL Assistant and closely with the MEAL Coordinator, the intern will help ensure data quality, support reporting, and contribute to community accountability processes.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the MEAL Assistant in collecting, organizing, and verifying project data (tree nurseries, seedlings, survival monitoring).
• Enter and maintain data in the PRIME system and the CommCare MRV platform, ensuring up‑to‑date and accurate records.
• Support the preparation of regular data summaries, trend analyses, and reports for the program team.
• Participate in community feedback sessions, focus group discussions, and semi‑structured interviews, and follow up on feedback.
• Document human‑interest stories and case studies for knowledge sharing.
• Conduct data quality audits, spot checks, and on‑the‑job trainings for health facilities and community units.
• Help test and adopt new technologies that improve MEAL efficiency.
• Assist in planning and supervising surveys, evaluations, and operational research.

Required profile

• Enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program related to Monitoring & Evaluation, Environmental Studies, Public Health, or a similar field.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a complex, data‑driven environment.
• Good communication skills for interacting with field teams and community members.
• Motivation to learn MEAL processes and contribute to project quality.

Required skills

• Familiarity with the CommCare data collection platform.
• Experience using the PRIME data management system.
• Basic data analysis and reporting capabilities.
