Operational Psychologist (GS-14)

About the role

The Operational Psychologist provides behavioral health support and strategic guidance to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection workforce. Working across multiple regions, the psychologist helps strengthen employee resilience, engagement, and overall well‑being.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct assessments of employee, manager and system variables related to engagement, resilience and wellness.
• Develop and implement evidence‑based programs such as suicide prevention, domestic violence response, substance misuse interventions, and resilience training.
• Collaborate with CBP offices, supervisors and external partners to address workforce challenges and improve program effectiveness.
• Facilitate focus groups, interviews and strategic action planning with internal and external stakeholders.
• Support proactive risk‑management initiatives, including insider threat assessments and behavioral risk analyses.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in psychology or a related behavioral science field.
• Experience applying behavioral and social science theories to organizational settings.
• Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership and diverse stakeholder groups.
• Knowledge of federal workforce health programs and risk‑management practices.
