Painter for US Navy Program

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Painter to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The role involves surface preparation, painting, and finishing work on buildings, equipment, and other facilities to preserve and protect government assets.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preservation, surface preparation, coating, and finishing tasks in accordance with Navy and program standards.
• Prepare surfaces by removing rust, corrosion, old coatings, and debris using hand tools, pneumatic tools, grinders, and sanders.
• Apply primers, paints, coatings, and sealants using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment following technical instructions.
• Support corrosion‑control activities, including chipping, scraping, sanding, masking, and coating of various surfaces.
• Maintain cleanliness, readiness, and accountability of all painting tools, PPE, materials, and equipment.
• Assist with setup, staging, containment, and cleanup of work areas to ensure safe and compliant operations.
• Maintain accurate logs, material usage notes, and documentation related to paint and preservation activities.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience in painting, preservation, coatings, corrosion control, or related maintenance fields.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid passport with at least one year remaining validity and ability to obtain required visas.
• Ability to meet contract medical requirements and obtain facility credentials.
• English reading, speaking, and comprehension sufficient for contract requirements and emergency procedures.
