Part‑time Teacher of English

About the role

The Aga Khan Academy Mombasa seeks a part‑time English teacher to join its International Baccalaureate (IB) community. You will work with diverse, high‑potential students, helping them develop strong language skills and a deep appreciation for literature within a pluralistic learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP) English curriculum effectively.
• Use a variety of monitoring and assessment strategies to track student progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning and integrating the IB curriculum and AK Strands.
• Create an enabling classroom environment that supports holistic development.
• Organise and manage teaching resources and supervise internal assessments, personal projects, and extended essays.
• Provide mentorship and pastoral support to students.
• Contribute to enrichment and residential programmes.
• Communicate academic concerns to mentors or Head of Year and support non‑specialist staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution.
• Recognised teaching qualification or a BED/MED.
• Minimum three years of experience teaching the IB curriculum.
• Registration with the Kenya Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
