Piping Design Engineer for Direct Air Capture Plants

About the role

Octavia Carbon is seeking a Piping Design Engineer to lead the design, procurement, and lifecycle management of piping systems and mechanical equipment for its Direct Air Capture (DAC) plants, including geothermal‑integrated facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop plant layouts and detailed pipe routing, produce plot plans, isometrics, pipe supports and stress‑critical line analysis.
• Select materials, wall thicknesses and specifications, ensuring compliance with ASME B31.1/B31.3, BPVC, API standards.
• Coordinate design with mechanical, process, electrical and instrumentation disciplines.
• Select, specify and purchase pumps, compressors, blowers, fans and valves; prepare requisitions, evaluate bids and manage vendor documentation.
• Support factory acceptance tests, equipment commissioning and on‑site maintenance.
• Identify corrosion mechanisms, recommend materials/coatings and define inspection programs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience in piping design or plant mechanical engineering in process industries (chemical, geothermal, power, oil & gas, carbon capture).
• Willingness to spend regular time on site supporting operations.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Plant 3D and pipe stress analysis tools.
• Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3, API 610/617 standards.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, PFDs and equipment datasheets.
• Understanding of rotating equipment selection and failure modes.
• Metallurgy and corrosion mechanisms knowledge.
